Tell Tommy I Miss Him

Filed under: Songs — Tags: — addenza @ 2:54 pm

Just found out today, but this song is the response to the song posted earlier (Tell Laura I Love Her). And it’s cool – both songs use the same melody.

Tell Tommy I Miss Him

Tommy my sweetheart is gone now
He’s up in heaven somewhere
So little star high above
If you see Tommy tell him of my love

Tell Tommy I love him
Tell Tommy I miss him
Tell him though I may try
My love for him will never die

He drove his car in that stockcar race
To win money so we could wed
He wanted so much to make me his wife
Now our love lives on though he lost his life

I’m so lonely without him near
Oh how I miss his warm embrace
I’ll love no other I want him to know
Oh little star please tell him so

Tell Tommy I love him
Tell Tommy I miss him
Tell him though I may try
My love for him will never die

Although he wanted to give me the world
Why did he do such a reckless thing
Little star he should have realized
I was richer than a queen when he looked into my eyes

Tell Tommy I love him
Tell Tommy I miss him
Tell him though I may try
My love for him will never die

Tell Tommy I miss him
Tell Tommy I miss him

Sorry. I’m a sucker for the emotional songs.

Tell Laura I Love Her

Another of the songs from my primary school choir days. I really like this song… No idea why, maybe just cause it’s a sad song… [/has a strange liking for sad songs]

Tell Laura I Love Her

Laura and Tommy were lovers
He wanted to give her everything
Flowers, presents, but most of all, a wedding ring
He saw a sign for a stock car race

A thousand dollar prize it read
He couldn’t get Laura on the phone
So to her mother, Tommy said

Tell Laura I love her
Tell Laura I need her
Tell Laura I may be late
I’ve something to do, that cannot wait

He drove his car to the racing grounds
He was the youngest driver there
The crowed roared as they started the race
Around the track they drove at a deadly pace

No one knows what happened that day
Or how his car overturned in flames
But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck
With his dying breath, they heard him say

Tell Laura I love her
Tell Laura I need her
Tell Laura not to cry
My love for her will never die

Now in the chapel where Laura prays
For her poor Tommy, who passed away
It was just for Laura he lived and died
Alone in the chapel she can hear him cry

Tell Laura I love her
Tell Laura I need her
Tell Laura not to cry
My love for her will never die

Yellow Bird

Heehee, this is one of the songs I sang back in my primary school choir days (until now, I still don’t understand why I joined choir – oh, cause we had to join a CCA in those days, but still, they were rather memorable). And I still can’t forget this song, cause it left a really deep impression on me, not to mention that my sis keeps singing it to me horribly (on purpose). Here’s the lyrics for the song!

Yellow Bird

Yellow bird,
Up high in banana tree,
Yellow bird,
You sit all alone like me

Did your lady frien’,
Leave the nest again?
That is very sad,
Makes me feel so bad,
You can fly away,
In the sky away,
You’re more lucky than me.

Yellow bird,
Up high in banana tree,
Yellow bird,
You sit all alone like me

I also have a pretty gal,
She’s not with me today,
They’re all the same
The pretty gals,
Make them the nest,
Then they fly away.

Yellow bird,
Up high in banana tree,
Yellow bird,
You sit all alone like me

Wish that I were a yellow bird,
I fly away with you,
But I am not a yellow bird,
So here I sit,
Nothin’ else to do.

Yellow bird,
Up high in banana tree,
Yellow bird,
You sit all alone like me

Let her fly away,
On the sky away,
Picker coming soon,
Pick from night to noon,
Black and yellow you,
Like banana too,
He might pick you someday.

Yellow bird,
Up high in banana tree,
Yellow bird,
You sit all alone like me.
