Rambles about drama serials

Posted by: addenza on: June 22, 2008

I’m going to talk about drama serials, cause Channel U cut my favourite “The Legend” today for a movie soo I’m not happy about it… And it’s so unfair!! It was already cut last Sunday cause of some other show.. (I forgot which)

*Note here that I’m only talking about Mandarin for Singapore.*

About Singapore drama serials:

– “Channel 8 melodrama”

And I agree with that statement. Channel 8 should stop making all these short drama serials OR even the long ones with lots of money thrown in but with similar plots – it’s jsut a total waste of money. Triangle relationships (sometimes even more than that, making the whole thing very confusing); same old people acting over and over again (we do get sick of seeing them, get it?), if not then people who can’t act the role well;  boring plots (I’ve really had enough of this – people fighting over the family business, lots of ill fortune striking the family – that’s really overdoing it!); always the same old setting (Year: 2008 [or the current year], HDB flats/terrace houses). Even if there are some nice ones, they come like 1 in 20 drama serials. Excellent. *switches off TV*

About HK drama serials:

Pretty okay in my opinion.. At least there’s more variation in the plots and stuff. I’ve no idea why I don’t get sick of watching them when I’m throughly sick of Singapore’s in only a few years.

About Taiwanese drama serials:

Erm… Change the plot, please! No other comments.

About Korean drama serials:

I think Channel 8 got their inspiration from here.. But they do produce good ones.. Like The Legend and Goong.. For the rest, I can’t be bothered to watch, cause it’s always tragedies… But in recent years they seem to be giving this up for variation in plots, so.. I support you! XD

About Japanese drama serials:

Well, I don’t really have the chance to watch them, since Channel U nor 8 shows them.. But still, they are known for being nice(: Man, I wish I can watch the Japanese version of Hana Kimi… T.T Looks like it’s impossible.. Good thing we can still watch anime, though.. Oh wait! I can’t watch Shakugan no Shana! T.T I wanted to watch that.. But the timing just doesn’t fit.. ><

About “mixed countries” drama serials:

Hmm. Usually they don’t turn out that well.. I’d rather watch, say, a Singaporean show with all Singaporeans instead of mixing it with other countries.. They usually turn out quite disastrous..

Anyway, that’s all for today(:
